Mike Pollock was born in Philadelphia Pa. and grew up in the West Oak Lane neighborhood. He graduated from Germantown High School in Philadelphia. Mike attended Temple University before being drafted into the United States Marine Corps during The Vietnam War. Mike married his wife, Kathy, in 1973. In 1975, he took over the family Hardware Store and moved it to Atco, NJ when his father was tragically killed in a store robbery. Kathy and Mike worked together in their Mom and Pop store until she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 2002. In 2004, the treatment for the tumor caused her to suffer two massive strokes that left her paralyzed and 100% dependent. For the past16 yrs. Mike has been her primary caregiver.
After Kathy became ill, Mike became a writer and a champion of patients’ rights. He is the author of the best selling memoir “From Death’s Door to Disney World” – Traumatic Brain Injury When You’re NOT Rich and Famous. He has written several op-eds about healthcare for the Courier Post. He works as a patient advocate for Bayada Home Health Care. He has met with political leaders about healthcare law and has spoken publicly on the importance of healthcare advocacy. He has also been an active member of Well Spouse since 2010
Mike and Kathy have two children, Aaron, who holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and, Andrew, who is a successful business operator. They have four grandchildren, Josh, 10, Jake, 9, Elliot, 6, and Kylie, 3.
