Barry Appelbaum, 62, from Lancaster PA, and Surf City NJ, is a Sales and Marketing Executive, currently employed at The Hibbert Group in Trenton NJ, as a Business Development Executive.
Married to Susanne for over 25 years, they raised 5 children, and have 4 grandchildren. Barry's passions include gardening, the New York Yankees, antiques, 60’s music, working out, and the jersey shore. Barry is currently on the board of both Temple Shaarai Shomayim, and Jewish Community Alliance of Lancaster.
Susanne had a massive stroke in December 2011; further complications lead to a hemorrhage in emergency surgery. The results were a severe brain injury (Aphasia and Apraxia), partial paralysis, and other stroke related deficits. She is home bound, requires round the clock support and speech, physical and occupational therapy. After 3 years of non-stop focus on Susanne and her recovery, Barry was desperately looking for support for himself. He found and joined Well Spouse in 2015, and immediately started attending Well Spouse groups, as well as most respites, and annual conferences. He decided to start a local chapter in Lancaster, PA, where he resides, and his WSA Support Group was founded in 2017.
Knowing Well Spouse has financial challenges ahead, Barry joined the board in 2019 to assist in grants and fundraising, as well as other board related needs.
